Both crossovers are in about the same price range, but if you absolutely have to get nitpicky, the BMW X5 is about $1,000 less expensive than the Q5 when it comes down to it. However, both crossovers hover around the $40,000 mark.
Both the Audi Q5 and the BMW X5 received five stars in government side crash ratings, but for the frontal crash and overall scores, the Audi Q5 only received four stars while the X5 came out on top. Ultimately, the X5 is safer than the Q5.
The BMW X5 allows drivers to fold down its rear seating to offer up to 76.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Meanwhile, in comparison, the Audi Q5 allows for fold-down seats as well - but even with that extra space, it only has 57.3 cubic feet of storage volume.
When it comes down to it, the BMWX5 has better performance, safety ratings, and more space - for a slightly lower price. We’d say that makes the 2017 BMW X5 an obvious winner.
